The Fiona Wood Foundation is calling for young volunteers to take part in an exciting brain research project—The EINSTEIN Study.
This research is focused on understanding how burn injuries may affect the brain over the long term. By comparing MRI brain scans from children who have experienced burn injuries with those who have not, the study hopes to uncover important insights that could improve the future care and recovery of young burn patients.
Right now, we are looking for healthy young people—with no history of burn injury—to be part of the study as members of the control group. Participation involves a single one-hour MRI brain scan at the Harry Perkins Institute (UWA, Nedlands). There are no needles involved, and no follow-up appointments required.
It is a simple, one-off opportunity that fits easily into the school holidays—and a great way for young people to be involved in meaningful science.
We are currently seeking:
- 11-year-old girls (x2)
- 12-year-old girl
- 12-year-old boy
- 14-year-old girl
- 15-year-old girl
If you have a child who fits one of these age and gender groups and would like to find out more, please get in touch with Amira by phone at 0479 127 173 or email at amira.allahham@uwa.edu.au.
