This year, we celebrated Book Week by announcing that every primary school and education service in Western Australia with children enrolled from Kindy – Year 2 was directly mailed a Ben and Bella Storybook and associated teacher guide!
We wanted to share this incredible news with our community during Book Week as this year's theme was 'Read, Grow, Inspire', which encapsulates the transformative power of literature in children's lives and celebrates Australian authors and illustrators.
We wanted to acknowledge the authors of the Ben and Bella Storybooks, Anne Miller / Linda Thorburn and the illustrator Kerry-Anne Jordinson who together have created a marvellous book series that not only spreads important burns safety messages and first aid but does it in such an enjoyable and engaging way. The Foundation and our valued partner Chevron Australia are very proud of our achievement of ensuring that talented West Australians created the storybooks and associated teacher guides!
Another highlight for us was seeing that we had our first ever Ben and Burn Safe superhero attend their school book week parade! It is amazing to see children embrace the Ben and Bella storybook series and help us raise burns awareness and simple first aid with their friends, teachers and school community.
