The Fiona Wood Foundation is proud to recognise the commitment of our valued charity partner, FPA Australia.
Last year, the FPA Australia crew were among our top fundraisers, raising more than $20,000 with the support of their networks and the wider fire protection community. This year, they are back with double the strength and a friendly rivalry as Team Acrophobia and Team FPA Australia prepare to take on 33 floors and 130 metres.
Team Acrophobia might know a thing or two about keeping homes, workplaces and communities safe from fire but with a name like that, you could be forgiven for thinking heights wouldn’t be their thing. Instead, John Collie (Chief Executive Officer, FPA Australia), Craig Gamble (Wormald & FPA Australia WA Committee), Trent Barrett (WA State Manager, FLAMESTOP Australia) and Matthew Sanders (Director of Operations, Chubb Fire & Security) are proving otherwise, stepping out to support burn survivors whose recovery demands courage and resilience every single day.
Joining them is Team FPA Australia, bringing together Warren Makings (Technical Manager, FPA Australia), Kayla Roks-Webb (State Manager VIC, SA & TAS, FPA Australia), Ray Michael (WA State Manager, FPA Australia) and Eliza Crawley (Fire Protection Industry (ODS & SGG) Board). Some of the team are flying in specially for the occasion, while others are taking it on in their own hometown, but all are united in their commitment to making a difference.
With two teams now in the mix, the stage is set for some friendly competition who will raise the most, rally the loudest, or claim the bragging rights in 2025? One thing is certain: when the fire protection community comes together, they always make it count for burn survivors and their families.
