For many burn survivors and their families, finding the right support, resources, and follow-up care after hospital discharge can be challenging. The Ember to Empower project responds to this need by creating an online toolkit designed with the burn community, for the burn community.
Ember to Empower is a co-design study that will work directly with burn survivors to develop a one-stop recovery toolkit to support people after leaving the hospital. The toolkit aims to bring together trusted information, practical guidance and community support in one accessible place to help people navigate life after a burn injury.
The toolkit is expected to include holistic information about burn recovery, answers to common questions, stories from other burn survivors, links to burn support groups and camps across Australia, and opportunities to participate in research.
Importantly, the project will prioritise reaching people who may face additional barriers to support, including those living with disabilities and individuals in rural and regional communities.
