Today, the FWF team swapped their lab coats for aprons at Bunnings O’Connor, hosting a community sausage sizzle to raise funds for the upcoming Central Park Plunge 2025.
It’s been a wonderful day connecting with the local community, sharing more about our research and education programs, and raising funds to support burns research, care and recovery. Our team of students, researchers and burns fellows showed the same energy and teamwork at the barbecue that they bring to their work in the lab and clinic.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Princi Butchers, Fremantle, for their incredible donation of sausages for the day. Their generosity helped make the event a success and reflects the critical role small local businesses play in supporting community fundraising. Everyone at the Foundation sincerely appreciates their contribution.
A special thank you also goes to Executive Director Di, who coordinated the event and rallied the team throughout the day. From setup to pack-down, her leadership and enthusiasm kept the sizzle running smoothly.
To everyone who stopped by to buy a snag, say hello or learn more about what we do, thank you. Your support helps us continue to advance research and education, improving outcomes for people affected by burn injury.
Funds raised today will support our Fiona Wood Foundation Plunge teams Cell Mates and Downward Docs. as they prepare to take on the challenge for burns research and recovery. If you’d like to show your support, you can donate directly to their fundraising pages by clicking the links above.
