Governor-General of Australia Announces Patronage of the Fiona Wood Foundation

It was a privilege to welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, to the Burn Service of WA at Perth Children’s Hospital.

This special visit provided an opportunity to share our mission of achieving scarless healing—a vision that drives our research, innovation, and prevention programs to improve outcomes for burn survivors and their families.

During her visit, Her Excellency met with patients undergoing treatment and their families, as well as members of our research and clinical burns team. She gained valuable insights into how the Foundation translates ground-breaking research into pioneering treatments that heal burns and minimise scarring. In recognition of these efforts, Governor-General Mostyn graciously accepted the role of Patron of the Fiona Wood Foundation.

A recognised leader in business and community service, Her Excellency’s distinguished career spans governance roles across business, sport, climate change, the arts, public policy, and the not-for-profit sector. In her swearing-in speech in July 2024, she described care as "the gentle thought and the outstretched hand"—a sentiment that resonates deeply with the Foundation’s commitment to providing compassionate, holistic burn care.

Her Excellency’s support strengthens our mission to enhance outcomes for burn survivors and their families, and we are honoured to have her as our Patron.
