We were thrilled to be invited to attend Playgroup WA's 50th Birthday Funday at Wanneroo Showgrounds, where we had the chance to spread burn prevention and burn first aid messages. Playgroup WA provides children aged 0 to 5 years with their parents and caregivers an opportunity to engage and interact within their local communities. As children in this age cohort are at high risk of burn injury, it was an excellent opportunity to join in on the fun and meet some incredible families to increase their knowledge and understanding of burn injury and first aid.
On the day, we invited children to join the Ben & Bella Superheroes on their adventures by making superhero masks and participating in a coloring in sheet activity based on each storybook. We also spread the 20 to cool is the burn-safe rule by handing out fridge magnets and inviting families to purchase the Ben & Bella storybooks for their home libraries. The event was a great success, and there were thumbs up all around – as pictured below! We want to say a big thank you to Ralph, one of our volunteers at the Foundation who came to help us set up and came back at the end to set down our marquee and activity stations – we truly appreciate it!
We had such a wonderful time connecting with the Playgroup WA team, families and vendors, and we look forward to participating in more community events in the future so that we can spread the Ben & Bella Burnsafe Superheroes Education Program far and wide as we know prevention is better than a cure!
The Ben and Bella storybooks support early burn prevention education for children themselves, as well as their parents and extended families. We want to thank our valued partner Chevron Australia for their support in developing the storybooks and their investment in helping to safeguard our children from the devastating impacts of burn.
Di and our volunteer Ralph
