Burn Management Program

Burns Management Program

Managing burn injuries in Western Australia comes with distinct challenges across a vast state spanning 2.55 million square kilometres. Healthcare professionals, paramedics and volunteer first responders in rural and remote regions are often required to make complex decisions on their own, without immediate access to specialist support. In these situations, their knowledge and confidence directly influence patient outcomes.

The Burns Management Programme (BMP) strengthens these communities by providing essential skills and practical knowledge for managing burn injuries in geographically isolated settings. This fully subsidised training is available to eligible healthcare professionals, paramedics and volunteer first responders and delivers comprehensive education across the full pathway of burn care, from the initial response through to long-term rehabilitation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Burns Management Programme!

In 2025, our team travelled to Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Geraldton, finishing the year in Albany this October. It has been a privilege to work alongside regional clinicians, first responders, health workers and community members who are committed to improving burn care in their local areas.

We appreciate the time participants invested in building their skills and strengthening the support available to burn patients and their families throughout the recovery journey.

The Burns Management Programme reflects our pillar of Impactful Education. Through our education initiatives, we aim to equip healthcare professionals, patients, the industry workforce and the broader community with practical knowledge to prevent burns, understand first aid, and manage and treat burn injuries. This work contributes to better outcomes for anyone who may experience a burn injury.

Information about the 2026 programme will be shared next year. To stay updated on upcoming training and other education opportunities, follow us on Instagram Facebook. We look forward to building on this work and continuing to empower communities through prevention and education.
