Professor Fiona Wood AO will deliver the 2026 Depaz Oration at the AusBiotech International Conference, taking place on the Gold Coast from 21–23 October as part of Australia’s Biggest Week in Biotech.

Held under the theme Global Impact Together, the conference will bring together leaders from biotechnology, medical technology, digital health, research, investment and government to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration and explore developments across Australia’s life sciences sector.

This year’s integrated three-day program features more than 250 speakers across approximately 60 sessions, spanning the journey from scientific discovery to the commercialisation of healthcare innovations.

The Depaz Oration recognises a visionary leader who has successfully translated scientific innovation into market-ready healthcare solutions. Fiona’s selection reflects her experience in medical innovation, including the co-invention of ReCell with Marie Stoner, a spray-on skin cell technology developed to help reduce permanent scarring in people with severe burns.

A former AusBiotech Board member and current Orthocell Board member, Fiona’s involvement in the conference brings together her experience in clinical practice, research and biotechnology.

The AusBiotech International Conference is one of three events held during Australia’s Biggest Week in Biotech, alongside the AusMedtech Conference and AusBiotech Invest, connecting Australia’s research, industry and investment communities.
