Life After Burn
Life After Burn is a collection of real stories written by people with lived experience of burn injury, created to support others on their recovery journey.
The book shares patient experiences alongside practical guidance from the burns multidisciplinary team, including clinical psychology input, to help readers better understand recovery—physically, emotionally, and psychologically.
The project began after Dr Lisa Martin observed that recovery outcomes can vary significantly between patients with similar injuries. Through conversations with burn survivors, the importance of mindset, support, and perspective became clear—alongside the value of hearing from others who have been through similar experiences.
Contributors share insights into coping, rebuilding confidence, and adjusting to life after injury, including guidance on how to talk about their experience with others. These stories aim to offer hope, connection, and practical ideas for recovery.
