The Fiona Wood Foundation joined fire protection professionals from across Australia and internationally at Fire Australia 2026, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 5–7 May.
Hosted by Fire Protection Association Australia, Fire Australia is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fire protection industry event, bringing together professionals from across the sector to share knowledge, explore emerging technologies and discuss developments in fire safety and protection.

As the official Charity Partner of Fire Australia 2026, FWF was represented by Executive Director Di and Dr Angus Barber, recipient of the FPA Australia Scholarship. The event provided an opportunity to connect with the fire protection community and share how industry support is contributing to burns research.
The FPA Australia Scholarship forms part of a longstanding relationship with the Foundation and supports the development of the next generation of burns researchers. Through this investment, emerging researchers are able to contribute to work aimed at improving treatment and recovery following burn injury.
FWF also hosted a charity raffle during the event, with Protection Engineering sponsoring the major prize and additional prizes generously donated by Building Services Recruitment Australia, The Star Gold Coast and Crown Melbourne.
Our thanks to FPA Australia and its members, our raffle supporters and everyone who engaged with FWF throughout Fire Australia 2026. Their contribution helps strengthen the connection between fire prevention, industry leadership and research focused on improving outcomes for people affected by burn injury.
We look forward to joining the fire protection community again at Fire Australia 2027, from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 May at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre.
