Excellence Recognised at AWTRS

PhD student Linley received the Best Student Presentation Award and Highest Overall Score Prize at the 2026 Australasian Wound and Tissue Repair Society Conference in Adelaide.

Linley Worth, PhD student at the University of Western Australia’s Burn Injury Research Unit (BIRU), mentored by Fiona Wood Foundation researchers Dr Lucy Barrett and Dr Andrew Stevenson, received two presentation awards at the 2026 Australasian Wound and Tissue Repair Society (AWTRS) Conference, held in Adelaide from 26–28 August.

Linley received the Best Student Presentation Award and Highest Overall Score Prize for her presentation on the validation of a genetic variant associated with Dupuytren’s contracture, a condition characterised by fibrosis of the connective tissue in the hand.

She also presented on a novel therapy administration technique being investigated for recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), a rare genetic skin condition.

Supported by an AWTRS Travel Award, Linley joined national and international researchers to exchange knowledge on wound healing, fibrosis and emerging therapies.

The conference provided valuable scientific feedback and opportunities for collaboration, helping inform the next stages of her PhD research.

Congratulations to Linley on this well-deserved recognition of her contributions to this important area of research.
