Consumer Research Involvement
Consumer Research Partners: Document Review
The Fiona Wood Foundation is seeking people with lived experience of burn injury, as well as family members, carers and support people, who may be interested in contributing to research as consumer research partners.
One way to be involved is through document review, using your lived experience and perspective to help researchers improve the clarity, relevance and accessibility of research materials.
What does document review involve?
Depending on the project, you may be invited to review participant information and consent materials, questionnaires, surveys, plain-language summaries, reports or other research documents.
You may be asked to consider whether the information is clear, respectful and easy to understand, whether anything is missing or confusing, and whether it reflects what people affected by burn injury may want or need to know.
You do not need research or medical expertise. Researchers bring their research knowledge and you bring your lived experience, knowledge and perspective.
What does being a consumer research partner mean?
Consumer research partners are part of the research team and contribute to the research process rather than taking part as research participants.
Your role will depend on the project. Before you agree to be involved, we will explain what you will be asked to contribute, your roles and responsibilities, the expected time commitment, the support available and any remuneration or reimbursement that applies.
We will also keep you informed about how your contribution has been considered and appropriately acknowledge your involvement in the research.
Register your interest
If you are interested in becoming a consumer research partner and contributing to document review, you can register your interest below.
Registering your interest does not commit you to a research project. When a relevant opportunity becomes available, we will provide more information so you can decide whether you would like to be involved.
