The FWF is proud to celebrate Heather Russell and Michelle Adamson, who received awards for their research presentations at the 2025 Child Health Research Symposium.

Hosted by the Child and Adolescent Health Service and The Kids Research Institute Australia on Saturday 25 October, the symposium brought together clinicians, scientists, researchers and students to share new research and practical approaches to improving child health outcomes across Western Australia.

Held under the theme Empowering Futures: Advancing Child Health, the event featured more than 220 local investigators working across a broad range of child health research.

FWF PhD student Heather Russell received an award for her presentation, “Exploring Spiny Mouse Dermal Fibroblasts as a Blueprint for Human Skin Regeneration.”

FWF Research Assistant Michelle Adamson was recognised for her presentation, “Embedding Environmental Sustainability into Paediatric Burns Outpatient Culture.”

The FWF congratulates Heather and Michelle on their achievements and their contribution to research that aims to improve burn treatment, recovery and long-term outcomes for children and families.
