2024 Your Impact Research Event

On Thursday 28 November, our Burn Family came together with Fiona Wood Foundation researchers at UniClub for our annual Your Impact Research Update, an important opportunity to share our research, connect with our community and continue conversations about burn injury and recovery.

Professor Fiona Wood AO welcomed everyone before researchers shared updates on work underway across the Foundation.

Lisa presented an overview of research activity at Perth Children’s Hospital through the Stan Perron Centre of Excellence for Childhood Burns. Her presentation covered the Paediatric Quality of Life Study, which explores psychosocial and emotional quality of life after burn injury, as well as the burn biobank and its contribution to ongoing childhood burns research.

Lucy, Graeme and Jana also presented updates from their areas of research, giving our Burn Family the opportunity to hear directly from our researchers about current studies, what we are learning and the progress being made across our research program.

Tim graciously shared his personal burn journey and reflections on recovery, bringing an important lived experience perspective to the evening and sharing his experiences with our Burn Family community.

Di then reflected on highlights from across the Fiona Wood Foundation during 2024.

Following the presentations, the conversation continued over refreshments, with time to speak with our research team, ask questions, share perspectives and connect with others from our Burn Family.
