As a Wound Awareness Week Ambassador, Professor Fiona Wood AO has been helping raise awareness of wound prevention, skin health and the importance of giving consumers and carers access to trusted, evidence-based information.
As part of this work, Fiona recently joined Wounds Australia, clinicians, community representatives and government representatives in Hobart for the launch of the Be Wound Aware Education Series.
The free online series has been developed for consumers, families and carers and covers caring for wounds at home, recognising warning signs, wound prevention and healthy skin, and first aid essentials.
For Fiona, sharing this knowledge is an important part of helping people feel informed and confident in their care:
“Knowledge is power when it comes to chronic wounds, so if we can empower carers and consumers with good, solid evidence that is easily accessible, then why wouldn’t we?”
If you are caring for your own skin or supporting someone else, you may find these resources useful.
